Two New Looks

Rand got glasses! We ordered his online and he got 2 pairs that just arrived Thursday and today. He likes the thicker plastic frames. It also seems like he likes the more rectangle shape too. It was fun listening to him as he was noticing the details around him that had been fuzzy for a while.

One pair is a navy blue.

One pair is mainly clear with a little blue.

Rhianna also has a new look - pierced ears! She has been thinking about this for a while and building up some bravery. We showed her some videos online and talked to her about how it might feel and that she would need to take care of them. She is very responsible and organized that way and I am sure will do great. We did tell her that if she got the one done, she had to go through with number two even if it hurt. She went on a Daddy-Daughter date with Steve and got them pierced. It did hurt, but not for too long. She picked blue flower earrings to wear.

Mom - We Ate our Veggies!

Steve has been telling us all for years how much he hates brussel sprouts. About a week ago we got a bag full of big brussel sprouts from Bountiful Baskets. So here was our chance to try them. None of the rest of us has ever had them. It had been a long time for Steve...

My friend Corine and her family love them. She suggested I boil them for a few minutes and then saute them with a little bacon.

Even bacon could not help our family like the brussel sprouts. I personally found the lead up to eating them hilarious. All the kids were convinced they would probably throw up. That it would be the most disgusting thing ever. So we took a picture of us all eating them...

I promise Steve was chewing - he even ate 2. But he still doesn't like them.

Seth made it through one bite.

Rhianna ate her piece very grudgingly.

Rand put on a brave face and a smile and at first said he liked the end of his one piece he had changed his mind.

And my take on it? I had 3 pieces. The bitterness reminded me of other German type tastes I had growing up (cabbages). I thought they were fine and tolerable, but I didn't think I wanted to eat too much. Unlike other veggies that I could keep going on (CORN! peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers etc) a few was enough. But we tried them. And next time we will probably give them to the Neumillers.
