Surprise - Rand Lost a Tooth!

Rand's tooth has been wiggly for a while now. But we were all surprised when he lost his first tooth on Sunday. Here is the story in Rand's words: It was after church and Tyler couldn't come with dad so me and Rhianna were dad's home teaching companions. It was after the lesson and I was wiggling my tooth and they were just talking. I kept on wiggling my tooth and it popped out and it was in my hand and my fingers were a little bloody. I was doing a weird smile and Rhianna was like, "What happened?" And I was still doing that weird smile. And Rhianna was like,"Did you lose a tooth?" And I was still doing that weird smile and I did that weird smile for a while. And then the people gave me a napkin and a bag to put my tooth in. And when I got home mom was really surprised.

Spring Fling

This last Saturday our ward had a potluck lunch and Easter Egg hunt. There is a family in our ward that has a very nice, huge, grassy piece of property and many of our parties are at their home. We ate good food and the kids could play on the tire swing, swing sets, and play houses. They also had a few games for the kids like water balloon and beanbag tosses and a relay race. We were also happy that Rhianna's friend Ali could come with us. They have been so nice and taken Rhianna to movies and basketball games and parks and so we were glad she could join us.

This Easter Egg hunt is very nice. Since all of us bring 12 eggs per kid, the kids act kindly and just try to find 12 eggs and everyone comes away happy. And they all have very different things inside since different people brought them. The kids had fun and we are still working on slowly eating the candy.

Have a great Easter this weekend!

Variety Show 2010

Whitmore had a Variety Show again this year. Rhianna chose to play the piano. Last summer when we visited my family, my brother Calvin started teaching Rhianna to play the piano. My mom sent some old piano books to us and Rhianna has just continued to practice on her own on our keyboard. I have shown her a little bit and she has taught herself. We know she likes to play and hopefully later this year we will buy a piano and she will be able to take lessons and continue to learn.

For the Variety Show, she played Old McDonald and Ode to Joy. Great job Rhianna!

Great Line

We had Stake Conference today. With three kids under 8 Stake Conference is really just an exercise in obedience for us. There is not a lot of opportunity for us to focus on the messages. Anyway, today there was a youth choir and they sang, Behold a Royal Army. As they were singing, Rhianna leaned over to me and asked, "Are they singing Victory, or Hickory?" I thought that was hilarious.

Too Close

Sometimes our two boys wake up early (too often lately). When Seth wakes up early Stephanie usually just has him get in bed with us and sleep some more. This doesn't bother me very much because I am a fairly sound sleeper. However, early this morning I had an experience that woke even me up. Seth was in our bed and I was sleeping on my side with my back to him. I was rudely awoken by two little feet slipping into my pants and trying to warm themselves on my backside. I quickly reached around and pulled his feet out. He started getting upset (I guess it was warm in there), but even a sound sleeper like me has some limits. Some snuggling is simply too close!

Fun facts with Rand

One of the things I love about Rand being able to read is when he reads us lines from cereal boxes in the morning. Just imagine sitting there, eating your cereal, and one of these lines comes out of a 5 year old:

"We believe in real simple food. " - Cheerios
"A good breakfast can help you get going, manage your weight, stay on task at work, and concentrate." - Crispix
"Family life is better when your kids are healthy." - Froot Loops

Cracks me up!

(And may I also just mention - there was a good sale on Kellogg's cereals. I got several Crispix since that is Steve's favorite and Rand wanted me to get the Froot Loops. Froot Loops now advertises "Now provides Fiber - a great way to keep kids healthy." However, that added fiber plus the crazy bright colors are not quite as pleasant coming out in Seth's diapers still in crazy bright green!)
