Seth's Six Month Stats

Seth has been learning and growing so much lately. He really has control of rolling from his back to his belly...but he still rarely rolls back over. He is getting pretty good at sitting. His digestion seems to be a bit more sensitive than the other two kids so we are taking foods slowly. His sleeping isn't as perfect as it once was but he is still a pretty perfect baby. I was sure he was pretty close to 20 pounds...but here are the official stats from his doctor's appointment yesterday:

Weight 18 lbs 10 ozs (75%)
Height 27 1/4 in (75%)
Head 45 cm (75%)

So he is pretty perfect. He even did amazing with his shots (just like Rand). Since there has been a measles outbreak here he got the MMR shot early, for a total of 4 shots. He didn't even cry at all on the first 2, just looked at the nurse. When she did the other 2 shots in the second leg, he did then cry but seriously for only a minute.

We sure are glad we have this little boy!! (You can tell because both Rhianna and Rand had to hold Seth.)

Is This Meat?

This last week I roasted a whole chicken. Today I cooked bone-in pork chops. But I have issues with meat with bones. I guess I had a pretty nice childhood and didn't have to deal with meat on bones. I don't really know how to eat the meat off. I am picky about fat and connective tissues. I fully realize the meat comes from animals and actually have no problem preparing it (taking the guts out of the turkey or chicken) but I just still find the bones messy. Rhianna felt a little the same way as she looked at her chicken this week. So we had a discussion at dinner about where the food comes from, that the drumstick is the chicken's leg, and the meat is the muscle, etc, etc.

So the next morning as I helped Rand get dressed he kept asking, "Do we have meat? Is this part of me meat? Is this meat? Is this meat?" as he pointed to his arms, legs, belly, ears...And then he said, "We need to go hunting soon and kill some animals. I think we will need some bows and arrows and guns." This kid says some funny stuff.

Sweet Independence

Rand is becoming more independent. Lately he wants to try and do more things himself. One area that he has been working on is putting his clothes back on after he goes to the bathroom. He was pretty proud of himself after he got his underwear and shorts back on this time. As you can see his shorts were on backwards. What you can't see is that his underwear was also on backwards. That night he put his pajamas on by himself as well and that time he got his underwear on not only backwards, but also inside out.

A Good Start

Rand is having just one of those hilarious mornings. It started when he climbed into bed with us at about 6:15...he did eeny-meeny-miny-mo to decide whose pillow to sleep on. I was the winner! Then we all did a breakfast parade to go say prayers before eating. In that prayer Rand blessed that he could get a pogo stick. A yellow one for him and a pink one for Rhianna because they don't have pogo sticks. Then he started pretending Transformers with Steve. He has not seen the movie but just knows the concept and would turn into different things. Then he helped me water the trees out front and had fun trying to make big splashes.

So we are off to a good start. We will leave in a little bit to go to his Movers and Shakers Class which is fun too. It is nice to have days like this...
